Factionparadox.co.uk is now a dead site hosting malware (or so my browser tells me). But from 2001 to 2006, it held a good deal of material by Lawrence Miles about the history of the Faction, the War and the Spiral Politic in general. Most of this is more or less accessible via the Wayback Machine.
The question is, is this a valid source for articles here? And if so, how should we cite it? —Josiah Rowe talk to me 03:19, June 24, 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I never went to that site because I got the same warnings you did. We obviously don't want to provide links to the site if it's "dangerous". Lemme see if I can glean some info from the Wayback versions.
czechout ☎ ✍ <span style="">22:45: Sun 24 Jun 2012- Okay, on the face of things, it doesn't seem an appropriate site. t's a fansite maintained by one person, and clearly labelled as an "independent" site. Plus, it only uses a part of the overall FP output. They don't seem to consider the MB, RS or OP stuff at all. Here's their disclaimer:
- FactionParadox.co.uk is an independent website supporting Mad Norwegian Press's Faction Paradox publications, and BBV's Faction Paradox Protocols audio productions. Any opinions expressed herein are purely the opinions of the site's authors.
- Where are you gettin' that it contains info direct from Miles?
czechout ☎ ✍ <span style="">22:58: Sun 24 Jun 2012- Well, for one thing, it had the scripts for the BBV audios, which obviously wouldn't have happened without Miles' consent. (As far as I can tell, the only reason it doesn't cover the stuff from other publishers was that it stopped being updated around the time MB got the license.)
- I thought that there was something somewhere that said that things like the History pages were by Miles, but now I can't find it. All I can find is this credits page, which says:
- Website Credits
Faction Paradox created by Lawrence Miles, copyright (c) 1996.
"The Eleven-Day Empire: A Tour" written by Mags L. Halliday.
All artwork by Steve Johnson (unless otherwise indicated), except for "Faction Armour" by Jim Calafiore.
Sontarans created by Robert Holmes.
Website hosted by Tom Pratchett.

- Now, that doesn't say anything about who wrote the rest of the "Spiral Politic Database" section. I really did think back in the day that those were by Miles, but I can't prove it now. Perhaps I'll look around the old FP forum and/or ask on Gallifrey Base. —Josiah Rowe talk to me 03:32, June 25, 2012 (UTC)
- I found a post from the creator of the site, in which he describes it as "the semi-official unoffical one with all the Lawrence-writtern stuff on." —Josiah Rowe talk to me 04:15, June 25, 2012 (UTC)
