The Julian calendar was a dating system used on Earth.
Having eventually found to be inaccurate, another system was created, the Gregorian calendar. However, not all countries chose to use it. Over time, the errors produced by using the Julian calendar caused everyone on Earth to abandon it. The discrepancy in days from the changeover were used by Faction Paradox through the Gregorian Compact to create the Eleven-Day Empire, and later by Cousin Anastasia to build the Thirteen-Day Republic.
