A noosphere was the interaction of thought and culture.
The term was defined by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, distinctive from the geosphere and the biosphere. It could be applicable to a planet or an entire species.
Since the Great Houses created the Spiral Politic as an extension of themselves, it could be considered as the Houses' noosphere. The enemy may have been outside that noosphere, which was why the Houses had so much trouble understanding and dealing with them. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
