The Mystery of the Rose was the fifth story in More Tales of the City.

Summary[]

A Remake of Richard III of England became a private detective. He is hired by Elizabeth Woodville to find out whether the original Richard III (now Resident Plantagenet) killed her children. When he finds Resident Plantagenet, he reveals that he is using his potentially-undeserved reputation as a villainous schemer and adept politician to manoeuvre his way to a seat on the City Council. Plantagenet has two coffins which may contain the resurrected princes, but he refuses to make it clear because the ambiguity fuels speculation and keeps him in the public mind.

In The World Turned Upside-Down, the Remake finishes his story. Obviously Plantagenet's plan worked, as he is now a Councillor.

Characters[]

  • Richard III of England
  • Elizabeth Woodville

References[]

  • The Remake is modelled on the performance of a man named McKellen.

Notes[]

  • In the real world Richard Plantagenet was speculated to have killed the princes to become king himself.

Continuity[]

  • Woodville never refers to her children as "princes" or "sons"; only using gender-neutral descriptors. (AUDIO: The Kingmaker)
