The Yssgaroth, (PROSE: The Pit) also called the Great Vampires (TV: State of Decay) and the Alukahites (PROSE: Predating the Predators), were a psychotic, hostile force accidentally released from the hole punched in the universe at the anchoring of the thread. This began the first "War in Heaven" fought by the Great Houses. They sometimes appeared as massive humanoids, but they could shapeshift into many forms; they were capable of draining entire planets at a time. Though they were were eventually wiped out of the Spiral Politic, their "taint" remained in the vampiric mal'akh. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
